Fred Dewitt Pleasant

Mr. Fred Dewitt Pleasant, age 73, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Pleasant was born January 27, 1943 in Surry County to Clarence and Gladys McMickel Pleasant.
Mr. Pleasant was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of Mountain Park United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Frances Riggins and sister, Clara Bryant.
Survivors include: his wife, Joe Alice Pleasant of the home; sister, Coleen Dryden of Yorktown, VA; nieces and nephews, Greg Dryden, Debra Cook, Cynthia Smith, Curtis Brant, Earl Riggins, John Riggins, Charles Brant and Lisa Krejcaret; several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 16, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Russ Nixon officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
