R.E. "John" Smith

Mr. R.E. “John” Smith, age 84, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016.  Mr. Smith was born October 22, 1932 in Yadkin County to Eli and Winnie Long Smith.

Mr. Smith retired from Carolina Glove Company and was a member of Jonesville Church of God.  In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jean Smith, three sisters, Ruth Money, Nancy Goins, Beulah Evans and a brother, Gorrell Shore.

Survivors include: a daughter, Debbie Harris and husband David of Elkin, two brothers, David Smith and wife Bonnie of Hamptonville, George Smith of Winston Salem, a sister, Sudie Hutchens of Lewisville.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 4:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Ken Nelson and Brother Tommy Nixon officiating.  Burial will follow in Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:30-4:00pm prior to the service.
