Ellis Claude Hamby

Mr. Ellis Claude Hamby, age 69, passed away Monday, October 17, 2016 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hamby was born July 1, 1947 in Surry County to Claude and Judy Ellis Hamby. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Mt. Airy and a veteran of the US Army.  Mr. Hamby was a member of Yadkin Masonic Lodge #0162, a member of the NC National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution where he served as state registrar and a member of the American Legion Post 0336.

Survivors include: his wife, Joyce N. Hamby of Yadkinville, son, Matthew Ellis Hamby and his wife Anna of East Bend; daughter, Beth H. Charles and her husband Chris of Elkin; sister, Debra Bullard and her husband Thomas of Yadkinville; and grandchildren, Xan Charles and Lizzy Charles.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Alex Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to: Sons of the American Revolution- Yadkin Valley Chapter, 809 W. Main Street, Louisville, KY 40202 or a charity of ones choice.
