Betty Lou Poindexter

Mrs. Betty Lou “nana” Freeman Poindexter, age 69, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Poindexter was born April 23, 1947 in Surry County to James Shields, and Alma Newnettie White Freeman.

Betty retired as a plant manager for Bridge Street apparel, and was of the Christian Faith. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include; sons, Shane Poindexter and wife Carolyn of Ellenboro, N.C. and Travis Poindexter and wife Jennifer, of Jonesville; Daughter Cindy Greer and husband Artie of Yadkinville; Brothers, Johnny Lee Freeman of Mt. Airy, and Tommy Ray Freeman of Dobson; Grandchildren, Chase Greer. Matthew Poindexter, Dustin Poindexter, Tucker Poindexter, Bryce Greer, Jacob Poindexter, and Austin Poindexter.

A memorial service will be held, Monday September 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Brother Stephen Hawkins, Brother Larry Andrews and Brother Shane Poindexter officiating.
