Hubert C. Norman

Mr. Hubert C. Norman, age 88, passed away Monday, August 22, 2016 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Norman was born November 29, 1927 in Surry County to Dixie Eli and Laura Belle Murphy Norman.

Mr. Norman was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII with the 24th Infantry Division at camp Wood in Kumamoto, Japan. He was a retired brick mason and attended Zephyr Missionary Baptist Church where he was an ordained deacon.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Simmons Norman; brothers, Earl Norman, Edgar Norman, Frank Norman and Billy Norman; sisters, Marie Livengood, Margie Cox, Allie Simmons, Margaret Abbott, Louise Jenkins, Rose Ella Holbrook and Eleanor White.

Survivors include: his son, Larry Hubert Norman of State Road; grandchildren, Eric Norman and Chrishania Daye and husband Barry; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Dodson, Kyle Dodson, Mary Kathryn Daye and Kaden Eli Daye.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Craig Key, Rev. Greg Simmons and Rev. Jerry Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the National Guard Honor Guard and Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
