Lovie Darnell Phillips

Mrs. Lovie Darnell Phillips, age 84 of Elkin, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016. She was born January 26, 1932 in State Road to Ernest and Beulah Poindexter Darnell.

Lovie was the owner of Old Times Gift Shop in downtown Elkin for many years.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Ernest Darnell and Robert Darnell and sisters, Joy Spruill and Pauline Walker.

Survivors include her daughter, Terry P. Bluto of Juno Beach, FL; brother, Tim Darnell of Elkin; sisters, Judy Gambill of Elkin and Betty Jo Jones and her husband Paul of Georgia, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will the conducted Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at State Road Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Danny Dodds officiating.

The family requests that memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 N. Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621.
