Mason Phillip Burcham

Mr. Mason Phillip Burcham, age 96, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Chatham Nursing & Rehab Center. Mr. Burcham was born December 23, 1919 in Surry County to Henry Clay and Jettie Layell Burcham.
Mr. Burcham was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during WWII. Mason was a member of First Baptist Church of Elkin where he was active in many capacities including serving as a Deacon. He retired from Chatham Manufacturing and attended N.C. State University.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Laura Ray Burcham and sisters, Swannie Burcham Southard and Dilva Burcham McCollum.
Survivors include: his brother, Herman Burcham and wife Ruth of Boonville; sisters-in-law, Betty Ray Marion of Elkin and Evon Ray Parker of Winston Salem; special niece, Jennifer Swaim of Elkin and numerous other special nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Rebecca Husband Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Elkin, 110 Gwyn Avenue, Elkin, NC 28621.
The family would like to thank devoted caregivers Polly Holbrook and Nora Adams for their care and a special thanks to the Walker children for being the grandchildren he never had.
