Benny Leonard Groce

April 30, 1927 — July 20, 2016

Mr. Benny Leonard Groce, age 89, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016. Mr. Groce was born April 30, 1927 in Yadkin County.
Mr. Groce was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. Benny was a member of the mason and shriner club.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Gene Triplett Groce and son, Allen Leonard Groce.
Survivors include: his son, Joel Groce of Jonesville; daughter, Candy Wilmoth and husband Alvin of Thurmond; brothers, Jay Dee Groce of Elkin, Ricky Groce of Lake Norman and Harry Groce of Georgia; sister, Frankie Ann Groce of Elkin; grandchildren, Damon Groce and Keith Wilmoth; great-grandchildren, Allen Eugene Wilmoth and Merriam Joy Wilmoth.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Jerry Fugate and Keith Wilmoth officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunrise Cemetery in Jonesville. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
