Billy William Layell

Mr. Billy William Layell, age 79, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016.  Mr. Layell was born May 2, 1937 in Wilkes County to Vonce and Iva Swift Layell.

Mr. Layell retired from Wilkes County School System at C.B. Eller Elementary School and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Francis Carol Layell and a daughter, Iva Marie Swaim.

Survivors include, two sons, Jeff Layell and his wife Karen, Billy Layell, Jr all of State Road, two daughters, Diane Speaks and Mary Foster and husband Johnny all of Elkin.  Seven Grandchildren, Logan Foster, Levi Foster, Morgan Foster, Molly Foster, Daniel Swaim, Autumn Speaks, Summer Bauguess, a special friend, Edward Darnell.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Mitch Smith and Rev. John Attaway officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service.
