Mrs. Frankie Hawkins Simmons, age 76, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Simmons was born December 7, 1939 in Wilkes County to Nymphus and Donna Moletta Crabb Hawkins.
Frankie was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the owner of Frankie’s Café and a member of Middle Cross Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Frieda Spicer and brothers-in-law, Larry Medley and Henry Simmons.
Survivors include: her husband of 60 years, Frank Simmons of the home; daughters, Debbie Ring and husband Jerry of Traphill, Tammy Handy and husband Carl of Roaring River and Tina Hanley and husband Ken of Anchorage, Alaska; sister, Jackie Medley of Traphill; grandchildren, Timothy Handy and wife Tara, Anthony Burchette and wife Christina, Matthew Handy and fiancee Angel, Amy Handy Williams and husband James and Peyton Hanley; great-grandchildren, Trey, Taylor, Trystan Handy, Malachi Burchette, Madalyne, Emma and Maycee Handy, Payton and Layla Holloway and Makina and Hayden Williams.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Middle Cross Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Whitley and Rev. Joe Sturgill officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the church.
The family requests memorials be made to Middle Cross Baptist Church Building Fund, 2305 Rock Creek Road, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
The family would like to thank the staff of Forsyth Medical Center Palliative Care for their care.
