Katie Garris Darnell

Mrs. Katie Garris Darnell, age 69 passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Darnell was born May 23, 1947 in Surry County to Luther and Beulah Johnson Garris.
Mrs. Darnell was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Rania Annette Darnell; infant brother and sister, Connard and Connie Garris; brothers, Ted Garris, Perry Garris and Leo Garris; sisters, Genevieve Wolfe, Ella Mae Poindexter and Dorothy Wright.
Survivors include her son, Neal Wayne Darnell of Elkin; daughter, Lynn Moxley of Glade Valley; adopted daughter, Bobbie Mickle of Traphill; sisters, Ellen Wilkins and husband Larry of Boonville, Martha Absher and husband Ronald of Traphill and Jerry Key of Dobson; grandchildren, Petty Officer first class, Billy Wayne Hawkins; Amatha Danielle Moxley, Rianna Dawn Darnell and Austin Daniel Moxley; great-grandchildren, Logan Hawkins and Landon Hawkins; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Joe Southard, Rev. Russ Nixon and Rev. David Key officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
