Linda Bill Wall

Mrs. Linda Bill Stroud Wall, age 81, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 in Raleigh. Bill was born August 13, 1934 the third child of Walter and Eddie Stroud, neighborhood pillars of Jonesville. Bill grew up in a large family surrounded by love, happiness and caring respect for others. Though Bill was challenged by health issues for many years she kept a positive outlook on life and was able to live at her home until recently.
Bill greatly enjoyed her given name of Bill and telling the story of her father giving her a “boy’s” name, thus endowing her with the same wonderful sense of humor that he had.
Bill was married to Harold Wall and gave birth to their daughter Jill at the age of twenty. Bill was a deeply devoted and loving mother from that day forward. She worked at Dow Badische and as a teacher’s aide at Jonesville Elementary School. Bill took great interest in helping children who were behind on their studies, and many remember her kindness fondly. After the death of her husband Harold in 1995, Bill was fortunate to enjoy several years of loving companionship of her special friend and neighbor Bob Brandon.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Wall; brother, Joe Stroud; sister, Patsy Stroud James and special friend, Bob Brandon.
Survivors include; her daughter, Jill Tomlinson and husband James of Raleigh; brother, Jack Stroud and wife Virginia of Elkin; granddaughter, Dr. Margaret Worthington of Cali, Colombia.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday, June 10, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Roger Hensley officiating.  Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
