Mrs. Bonnie Ledbetter Spicer, age 90, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Spicer was born July 22, 1925 in Wilkes County to Coy and Lona Cockerham Ledbetter. Mrs. Spicer was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and was a member of Center Baptist Church. Mrs. Spicer will be remembered for her quilting, embroidery and leather britches. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Delaney Spicer; sons, James Troy Spicer and Shelly Dee Spicer; daughter-in-law, Terri Spicer; sisters, Carol Ledbetter, Mozelle Myers and Connie Spicer; and brothers, McKinley Ledbetter and Odell Ledbetter. Survivors include: sons, Jerry Spicer and his wife Wanda of State Road and Steve Spicer and his wife Peggy of Thurmond; daughter-in-law, Doris Spicer of Hamptonville; brother, Denver Ledbetter (Melissa Billings) of Elkin; sister, Louise Mitchell (Harold) of Troutman; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Center Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Gilreath officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. The family requests that memorials be made to The Gideon’s International, PO Box 95 Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to thank the staff of Forsyth Medical Center for their care.
