Max Soots

Mr. Max Soots, age 82, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Soots was born April 17, 1933 in Wilkes County to Charlie and Lessie Harris Soots. Mr. Soots was a charter member of Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church and retired from Chatham Manufacturing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and a classic car enthusiast.

In addition to his parents Mr. Soots was preceded in death by brothers, Joe Henry Soots, Paul Soots, Ralph Soots and George Soots; sisters, Tilda Holbrook and Maxine “Sis” Roberts and nephew, Donnie Soots.

Survivors include: his wife of 62 years Rose B. Soots of the home; sons, Charles Soots and his wife Susan of Yadkinville and Doug Soots and his wife Debra of Ronda; daughter, Sheila Newman and her husband David of Elkin; sisters, Grace Barker of Ronda, Ruby Minton of Wilkesboro and Annie Johnson and her husband Ike of Ronda; granddaughter Melissa Longworth and her husband Nick and great grandchildren, Austin Longworth and Cole Longworth.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 11:30am at Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Simpson, Rev. Marvin Blackburn and Rev. Jerry Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
