June Hepler Gaffney

Mrs. June Hepler Wright Gaffney of Elkin, NC passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Maryland. She was born March 13, 1936 in Winston-Salem, NC to Jennie Comer Hepler and Robert L. Hepler.

In 1954 she married her first husband M. Edward Wright, Jr. who died November 16, 1979. In June 1985, she married Lantz Gaffney who died December 22, 2015.

She is survived by her daughter, Christy Wright Hurley and her husband Thomas of Salisbury, MD; granddaughter, Erin Reddish-Jackson and her husband Donnie and grandson, Scott Reddish both of Salisbury, MD and great-grand-daughter, Mia Marie Jackson (the light of her life). She is also survived by her step-son, L. Patrick Gaffney and wife Phyllis of Greensboro, NC and step-granddaughter, Felicia Gaffney of Greensboro, NC; brother-in-law, Roland Wright of Archdale, NC and special cousins; Pat Stephenson and Husband Dan of King, NC, Gail Miller and Husband Terry of Dobson, NC and Ann Hood of Florida and other special Comer cousins. The family would also like to remember her high school classmates who met each month at the Lantern Restaurant in Dobson for breakfast and fellowship.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 5, at 12:00 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Whitley and Rev. Roger Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

A special appreciation to her oncologist Dr. Carol A. Albright and the nurses and staff in the Elkin Wake Forest Baptist Hematology and Oncology Clinic. “I have felt so blessed to have such excellent care and friendship.” The family would also like to thank everyone for the phone calls, cards and prayers while she was in Baptist Hospital.
