John "Johnny" Hamilton Jones

August 10, 1950 — January 22, 2016

I n the early morning hours of January 22, 2016 Mr. Johnny Hamilton Jones of Elkin, received a call for an appointment of which he could not refuse. A call to a reunion with those gone before that he loved and missed, and to meet the glorious God that he worshipped. Johnny was born August 10, 1950 in Surry County to William Eugene Jones, Sr. and Irene Shore Jones. In addition to his parents Johnny was preceded in death by a brother, William Eugene “Gene” Jones, Jr.; sister-in-law, Marsha Jones; and father-in-law, Roy Jones.

Johnny had a contagious smile that he shared with everyone he met. He especially loved spending time with his family. There was never a dull moment with Johnny, traveling, exploring and working at his Mom and Dad’s farm in Ronda in his spare time. He enjoyed spending time driving tour buses and becoming friends with the ones entrusted to his care riding behind him. All the while excited about the first place they would stop and eat. Johnny was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesville where he served as Deacon. His wonderful bass voice will be missed in the choir that he enjoyed being a part of.

Johnny was a wonderful husband, father, and son.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 33 years and the love of his life, Donna M. Jones of the Home; sons, Wesley Hamilton Jones of Charlotte and Patrick William Jones and his wife Elizabeth of London, England; daughter, Kinsey Marie Jones June and her husband Andy of Greenville; mother-in-law, Betty Jones; sister-in-law, Nancy S. Jones; nieces, Scarlett Jones, Michelle Jones, and Laney Jones; nephews, Brandon Thompson, Tyson Thompson and Harrison Jones; and in-laws, Mike and Deborah Thompson, Randy and Carolyn Jones and Danny and Pam Jones.

A celebration of life will be conducted Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Jonesville with Dr. Roger Hensley and Rev. Pam Anthony officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Jonesville.

The family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Jonesville Sanctuary Fund, PO Box 98 Jonesville, NC 28642.

We will forever remember and love Johnny. We will walk with a reflection of his smile knowing he is watching over us. Johnny lived a good life, just not as long as we wanted. Surely Heaven is a brighter and sweeter place now.
