Joey Carl Darnell

Mr. Joey Carl Darnell, 44, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.  Mr. Darnell was born December 31, 1971 in Surry County to Joseph Carl and Linda Parks Darnell.

Mr. Darnell was employed by Lowes Home Improvements and was of the Baptist faith.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Parks Darnell and a sister, Carla Brown.

Survivors include; his father and step mother, Joseph Carl and Cynthia Darnell of Traphill, three brothers, Dennis Smoot and wife Terrie of Elkin, Teddy Smoot and wife Rosemary of Boonville and Christopher Darnell and wife Jennifer of N. Wilkesboro, four sisters, Robin Carter and husband Scott of Lenoir, Tabitha Poplin and husband Jamie of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Cindy Anderson and husband Scott of Traphill, Delia Matthews of Yadkinville, several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Monday, January 25, 2016 at 6:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Mr. Eddie Day officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5-6pm prior to the service.
