Charles Dean Owens

Mr. Charles Dean Owens, age 73, passed way Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Owens was born April 2, 1942 in Surry County to Charlie L. and Hessie Colvard Owens.

Mr. Owens retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was of the Baptist Faith. Charles was an avid golfer and loved being a member of the “Senior Tour” at Greenstreet Golf Club and Austin Golf course.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Cheek Owens and brother, Dennis Gray Owens.

Survivors include: his son, Gregory Dean Owens of Thurmond; brother, Curtis Kent Owens and wife Betty of Hays; sister, June Hall and husband Dewitt of State Road; grandchildren, Brandi Nicole Lunsford, Amber Marie Gentry and husband Michael. McKenzie Danielle Owens and Tiffany Marie Wiles; great-grandchildren, Raegan Leigh Gentry, Kylie Grace Gentry, Izabella Marie Gentry, Noah Michael Gentry, Rylan Gage Gentry, Macy Haynes and Parker Lunsford.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Danny Royal officiating. Burial will follow at Roaring Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
