Thomas Lee Carter

Mr. Thomas Lee Carter, age 81, passed away Monday, December 21, 2015. Mr. Carter was born December 26, 1933 in Wilkes County to Manley Lowell and Mammie Carter.
Mr. Carter retired from the U.S. Navy with 21 years of service, serving during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and was a past member of Surry County VFW.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Golden and Mildred Alexander and brother, Jackie Carter.
Survivors include: his wife, Nancy Barker Carter of the home; daughter, Amanda Wall and husband Tommy of State Road; sisters, Mary Jane Morgan of Winston Salem and Lou Rae Burchette of Jonesville; grandchildren, Shane Wall of State Road and Ethan Wall of State Road; great-grandchildren, Jayda Wall and Alex Wall.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Mitch Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full Military Honors provided by U.S Navy & Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
