Ms. Mary Lou Childress, age 80, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015. Ms. Childress was born September 20, 1935 in Wilkes County to Matthew Quincy and Fannie Caroline Johnson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Louise Childress, Bernice Byers and Maude Johnson; brothers, Quincy Childress, Robert Childress, Ed Childress, Richard Childress, James Childress, Matt Childress, Jr., Bill Childress and Howard Childress. Survivors include: her son, Lewis Childress of N. Wilkesboro; daughter, Debra Pack and husband David of Elkin; sister, Ann Hamby and husband A.E., brother-in-law, Lawrence Johnson; sisters-in-law, Doris Childress of Dobson and Sadie Childress of N. Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Keith Pack and wife Laura and Matthew Pack; great-grandchildren, Caitlin Pack, Garret Pack and Brady Pack. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Mike Hamby officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will accept friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
