Mr. Garvey Cleemon Brown, age 90, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Brown was born May 27, 1925 in Yadkin County to Bedford and Wavie Cheek Brown. He was retired from Chatham Manufacturing Co. and was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesville. Mr. Brown was well known in the Elkin-Jonesville community having served as a town commissioner. He and his wife Helen loved to travel and visited all 50 states. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen B. Brown; sister, Ruth Welles and brother, Kelly Reid Brown. Survivors include: brother, Joseph Morris Brown of Ronda; sisters, Charlotte Garrick and her husband George of Lenoir and Janice Redding and her husband Gene of Ronda and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor George Garrick officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family request that memorials be made to Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to thank the staff of Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their care.
