Mrs. Christine H. Mathis, age 51, of Elkin passed away Friday, October 16, 2015. She was born December 25, 1963 in Wilmington, Delaware to Marshall T. Stepp and Carol Wilson (Wyatt). Mrs. Mathis was a member of Wilkes Faith Church in Ronda. She was preceded in death by her husband, Greg Mathis; father-in-law, Tony Mathis; and step father-in-law, Clifton DeBorde; step-brother, Lance Corporal Stephen Pike. Survivors include: her mother, Carol W. Wyatt of Hamptonville; father, Marshall T. Stepp of Myrtle Beach, SC; son, Bobby Huffman of Wilkesboro; son, William Huffman of Baldwin; brother, Kenneth Stepp of Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters, Patricia Riley of Delaware and Marsha Stepp of Delaware; step son, Bart Mathis of State Road; step daughter, Samantha Mathis of State Road; step-sister, Peggy Burgess of Delaware; sister-in-law, Keyna Vestal of Elkin; step mother, Sherry Swayze of Delaware; step mother-in-law, Linda Mathis of Elkin; step brother-in-law, Jones Darnell of Elkin; step sister-in-law, Julie Darnell of Elkin and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Bobby Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Elkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
