Henry E. Hampton

Mr. Henry Edmond Hampton, age 78, passed away Friday, October 9, 2015 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hampton was born October 10, 1936 in Surry County to Vernon and Nannie Parks Hampton. He was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and a retired poultry farmer and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Shirley Combs Hampton; a son, Tommy Gray Hampton and great grandson, Gunnison Strait Swaim. Survivors include: his wife, Lou Wood Hampton of the home; son, Eddie Hampton and his wife Darlene of Elkin; daughter Diane Swaim and her husband Buster of Elkin; grandchildren, Bridget Hampton Crump and her husband Josh, Richie Kyle Swaim and his wife Monica and Nicholas Vernon Hampton and his wife Danyelle; great grandchildren, Daniel Vernon Hampton and Sterlin Odell Swaim III. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Fugate and Rev. Jonah Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family requests that memorials be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 633 Friendship Church Road, Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to thank the staff of Chatham Nursing and Rehab and the staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital for their care.
