Mrs. Frances Lucille Shaffner, 83, passed away Sunday, October 04, 2015 at her residence. Mr. Shaffner was born July 11, 1932 in Surry County to Willie and Daisy Brown Chipman. Mrs. Shaffner was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Shaffner, a brother, Otis Chipman and a son-in-law, Terry Flinchum. Survivors include, a son, Danny Shaffner and wife Susan of Jonesville, two daughters, Evelyn Flinchum of Elkin, Lisa Shaffner of Jonesville, six brothers, Charles Chipman and wife Barbara of Jonesville, Curt Chipman of Hamptonville, Cecil Chipman and wife Sue of State Road, Carl Chipman and wife Susan of Troutman, Tommy Chipman and wife Elaine of Boonville, Bobby Chipman and wife Sandy of Yadkinville, four sisters, Betty Gentry and husband Dalin of Jonesville, Lola Key and husband Buddy of State Road, Dorothy Southard and husband Windell of Elkin, Jane Darnell and husband Albert of Thurmond, three grandchildren, Stephanie Longworth and husband Devin, Carrie Hemric and husband Kaleb, Joy Culler and husband Chris, five great grandchildren, Autumn Longworth, Mollie Longworth, Max Longworth, Ian Culler, Eisley Culler, a sister-in-law, Magdalene Reeves and husband Jack of Jonesville, a brother-in-law, Dewitt Shaffner of Jonesville, and an extended family member, Betty Flinchum. Also a special niece, Anna Rice and her Family. Graveside services for Mrs. Shaffner will be held Tuesday, October 06, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Crestwood Memorial Gardens with Dr. Wesley Smith, Mr. Buddy Key, and Rev.Travis Chipman officiating. Special music will be provided by Rev. Matty Ponce-de-Leon. Mrs. Shaffner will lie in state on Tuesday October 6, 2015 from 9:00-12:00 noon at Elkin Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association Western Carolina Chapter 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209 or to Mountain Valley Hospice 401 Technology Lane Suite 200 Mount Airy, NC 27030.
