Barry Dean Barker

Mr. Barry Dean Barker, age 57, passed away Friday, September 25, 2015 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Barker was born December 4, 1957 in Surry County to John and Virginia Yarboro Barker. He was a member of Old Fashioned Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Barker was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, James and Annie Barker and maternal grandparents, Evie and Birdie Yarboro and brother, Eddie Barker. Survivors include: sons, Daniel Barker, Barry Joe "BJ" Barker and his wife Amanda, and Chris Barker and his wife Whitney; sister, Dennie B. Carter and her husband Gary; sister-in-law, Ginger Barker, and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted Monday, September 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Elmer Barker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family requests that memorials be made to Oak Level Baptist Church, 5830 Austin-Little Mountain Road, Roaring River, NC 28669 or Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to thank the staff of Joan and Howard Hospice Home, the staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital and Dr. Albright and the staff of the Comprehensive Cancer Center for their care.
