Mrs. Virginia "Ginger" Parks, age 79, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015. Mrs. Parks was born November 11, 1935 in the Bronx, NY to John Wellenreiter and Margaret Smola. She was a long time resident of Miami, FL. and for the last 35 years a resident of Wilkes county. Mrs. Parks was a member of Roaring River United Methodist Church and was retired from Wal-Mart in Wilkesboro. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Maureen Bumgarner and a brother, Ritchie Smola. Survivors include: her husband, Julius Parks of the home; son, Ronnie Fiermonte and his wife Marcie Perry of Cooper City, FL; daughters, Ramona Miskevich and her husband Eddie of N. Wilkesboro, Deborah Fiermonte of Florida and Donna Hill and her husband Josh of Wilkesboro; brother, Bob Smola of Florida; three-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Greg Richard officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Surry County Animal Rescue, www.surryanimalrescue.org or the Alzeheimer's Association- Team Ginger, www.act.alz.org. The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for their care.
