Shirley Key Lyon

Mrs. Shirley Key Lyon, age 69, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Lyon was born July 8, 1946 in Surry County to the late Junior and Margaret Calloway Key. She was retired from Yadkin Bank and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir, was president of the Baptist Women and served as secretary/treasurer for over 40 years. Mrs. Lyon will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Survivors include: her husband of 50 years, Jack Lyon; daughter, Ann Holcomb and her husband Clay of Boonville; grandchildren, Jessica Matthews and her husband Toby, Chase Holcomb and his fiancée Jeannie and Justice Holcomb, great-grandchild, Carrington Matthews; brother, Lester Key and his wife Sharon of Mocksville; uncle; Roy Key and his wife Barbara of Pennsylvania; Aunts, Ann Calloway of Ronda and Florence Calloway of Ronda; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Murphy, Rev. Elmer Barker and Rev. Dwayne Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family requests that memorials be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 3982 Clingman Road Ronda, NC 28670 or Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to thank the staff of Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, the staff of Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital for their care.
