Mrs. Lucille Alexander Hayes, age 93, passed away Friday, September 04, 2015 at Pruitt Healthcare. Mrs. Hayes was born October 9, 1921 in Wilkes County to Marcus and Amy Phillips Alexander. She was retired from Chatham Manufacturing with over 40 years of service. Mrs. Hayes was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the Friends of Faith Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur D. Hayes; brothers, Homer Alexander, Dewitt Alexander and Howard Alexander; sisters, Billie Jo Wagoner and Frances Mae Ramriez and half-brother, Grady Day. Survivors include: her son, Mike Hayes of Elkin; daughter, Barbara Burch and husband Gayle of Jonesville; daughter-in-law, Willena Hayes Smith of State Road; sister, Mary Dunn of Roxboro; grandchildren, Mandy Foster and husband Charlie, Terry Settle, Shayne Smith, Jody Settle, Justin Hayes and wife Mariah and Jonathan Hayes and wife Erin; great-grandchildren, Heath Foster, Sarah Foster, Christopher Mayes, Maggie Smith, Will Smith, Madden Hayes, Ellisyn Hayes, Tenley Hayes, Bella Rose Settle and Guliana Settle; great-great-grandchild, Brady Tyler Harvey. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 6, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Dodds and Dr. Gary Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 593 Pleasant Hill Drive, Elkin, NC 28621.
