Mrs. Lillian Truly Southard Holder, age 97, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Holder was born April 4, 1918 to Surry County to Alvin Dixie and Mildred Wall Southard. Mrs. Holder was a member of Bessie's Chapel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Aubrey Holder; sisters, JoAnnh Southard, Dorothy Stanley and Martha (Sprig) White and brothers, Sebastian Southard, Spurgeon Southard, Swanson Southard and Collige (Luke) Southard. Survivors include: her sons, Aubrey Gene Holder of Elkin and Jeffrey Brent Holder and wife Deborah of Elkin; daughter, JoAnn Holder Jones and husband Robert L. of State Road; half-sister, Annie Ray and husband Thomas of Elkin; grandchildren, Jennifer Arnold and husband Scott, Ashley Lynn Holder, Brooke Sophia Holder, Father Brandon Holder Jones and Bishop Chandler Holder Jones and wife Megan; four great-grandchildren, Aidan, Owain, Malli and Caelin. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Ralph Grose, Rev. Joe Souther and Bishop Chandler Holder Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Bessie's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 North Bridge Street, Elkin, N.C. 28621. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home for the care and compassion given to their mother.
