John Arvel Holsclaw

July 1, 1941 — August 20, 2015

Mr. John Arvel Holsclaw, age 74, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015. Mr. Holsclaw was born July 1, 1941 in Wilkes County to Lenny and Maggie Nelson Holsclaw. Mr. Holsclaw was a member of Central Full Gospel Church and retired from Chatham Manufacturing. He enjoyed horeshoe pitching and was an avid fisherman and nascar fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be best man now and forever and will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Tim Holsclaw; granddaughter, Courtney Holsclaw and brother, Burt Holsclaw. Survivors include: his wife Opal C. Holsclaw of the home; daughters, Angie Lankford and husband Neil of Elkin and Martha Waller of Thurmond, brothers, Rob Holsclaw, Linville Holsclaw, William Holsclaw, James Holsclaw, Lawrence Holsclaw, Otis Holsclaw, Larry Holsclaw and Curtis Austin; sisters, Diane McHone and Rachel Dodson; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 23, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at Central Full Gospel Church with Rev. Bobby Norman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
