Mrs. Bobbie Ann Greene Gilliam, age 80, of Ronda, wife of Charles Avery Gilliam, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Gilliam was born to Robert "Bob" Glenn Greene of Clingman and Anna Mae Mathis Greene Brown of Roaring River on May 5, 1935. Mrs. Gilliam was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Ronda. She was a 1953 graduate of West Yadkin High School and graduated from a school of cosmetology in Winston-Salem, NC. Prior to motherhood, she worked as a beautician at Ideal Beauty Shop in Elkin. She was a homemaker and in 1962 she opened Ronda Beauty Shop at her home and worked part time there until 1971 when she began working with her husband Charles at Ronda Hardware (est. February 4, 1957 - December 31, 2002). She is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Charles Avery Gilliam; twin daughters Jan Gilliam and Ann Gilliam Deal, son-in-law Thomas Edward Deal and grandsons Charles "Chas" Thomas Deal and Christopher Scott Deal of Ronda; a brother and sister-in-law O.L. "Lonnie" and Dottie Brown of Baltimore, Maryland; a sister-in-law Dot Gilliam of Jonesville, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Ronda with Dr. Steve Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. Mrs. Gilliam was a devoted mother and would like memorials to be made to the North Carolina Baptist Children's Home to help care for children without parents. Baptist Children's Homes of NC, P.O.
