Mrs. Caroline "Mae" Money Billings, age 84 of Elkin, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015. She was born April 15, 1931 in Wilkes County to Edgar and Effie Van Hoy Money. Mrs. Billings was retired from Chatham Manufacturing, a member of Austin Baptist Church and a foster grandparent for the Wilkes County School system. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gaston Billings; son, Jack Billings; great grandson, Andrew Hicks; brother, Floyd Money; and sister Texie Clontz. Survivors include: son, Richard Billings and his wife Cathy of Elkin; daughters, Judy Ashford of N. Wilkesboro, Debbie Ford and husband Donnie of Jonesville, Pam Johnson and husband Adrian of East Bend; sisters, Sophronia Rhymer of Thomasville and Virginia Holleman of Ronda; special friend, Glenda Royal of Traphill; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, August 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Austin Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Knobbs Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family requests that memorials be made to Austin Baptist Church, 500 Roaring Gap Church Road, Traphill, NC 28685 or Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 N. Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621.
