Randy Hester

May 18, 1957 — June 14, 2015

Mr. Jack Randall "Randy" Hester, age 58, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. Randy was born in Elkin, NC on May 18, 1957 to Barbara Hester and the late Jack J. Hester. He was a loving father, grandfather, caring son, grandson and sibling. Randy served in many capacities as an EMT, volunteer firefighter, town commissioner and wholesale plumbing manager. His hobbies included racing RC cars, spending time with his best friend Jake, his 8 year old Golden Retriever and being with his family. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Hester and grandfather, Herbert Cochrane. Survivors include: his daughters, Michelle Fisher and husband Rett and Tiffany Fischer and her husband Ross; two grandchildren, Parker and Lily Johnson; grandmother, Effie Cochrane; mother, Barbara Hester; brother, Michael Hester and wife Teresa; sister, Debra Hester-Collins and husband Eddie; nephew, Devin Hester; niece, Kristin Tilley; three great-nephews and one great niece and many very dear friends. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Grassy Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Melinda Penry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family would like to thank the staff of Duke University Hospital Cardiac ICU for their care.
