Sadie Park Martin

Mrs. Sadie Park Martin, age 85, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015. Mrs. Martin was born September 20, 1929 in Surry County to James Winfield and Beulah Mae Sloop Park. Mrs. Martin was retired from First Union National Bank and was a graduate of Elkin High school. She was a member of Bessie's Chapel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruby Faye Couch and Mary Nell Park; brothers, Bobby Winfield Park and James Roger Park. Survivors include: her husband, Ernest M. Martin of the home; step-daughters, Dana Sloop and husband Jim of State Road and Becky Farrington and husband Junior of State Road; sisters, Marie Combs and husband Bud of Elkin and Louise Coram of Raleigh; five step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Bessie's Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Groce officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Bessie's Chapel Baptist Church, 362 Bessie's Chapel Church Rd. Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to thank the staff of Pruitt Healthcare, Elkin Assisted Living and Wake Forest Baptist Health Care/Gentiva Hospice for their care.
