Susan E. Sprinkle Swaim

May 19, 1920 — June 4, 2015

Mrs. Susan E. Sprinkle Swaim, age 95, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Swaim was born May 19, 1920 in Surry County to James Arthur and Lillie Hinson Sprinkle. Mrs. Swaim was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and loved to cook, especially, gravy and hoe cake. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband R. Garland Swaim; four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include: her sons, Roger S. Swaim of the home and Ronald J. Swaim and wife Wanda of Elkin; daughter, Cheryl S. Hinshaw and husband Phil of Winston Salem; grandchildren, Darrin J. Hinshaw, Todd Hinshaw and wife Mallie, Angie Swaim and Beth Recchio and husband Joey; great-grandchildren, Ryley J. Hinshaw and Nickolaus Lawrence; step-great-grandchildren, Jonathan Murray, Bobby Murray and Samantha Murray; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family request memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 North Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to thank caregiver, Brenda Carter, nurse Debbie Ford and the staff of Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home and Mountain Valley Hospice their care.
