Mr. John Wesley "J.W." Layell, Jr., age 78, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015. Mr. Layell was born May 11, 1937 in Wilkes County to John Wesley and Vestie Viola Pardue Layell. Mr. Layell was a member of Oak Level Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Monroe Layell, Roby Layell, Frank Layell and Zeno Layell; sister, Lola Hayes. Survivors include: his wife, Mary Lee Layell of the home; sons, Johnny Layell and wife Darlene of Elkin and Benny Layell and wife Chastity of Elkin; sister, Marie Norman and husband Gray of Elkin; grandchildren, Kaylee Layell and Julie Layell. Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Level Baptist Church with Rev. James Hall and Rev. Keith Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pruitt Health Hospice, 902 West D St. North Wilkesboro, NC 28659 or Oak Level Baptist Church, P.O. Box 123, Roaring River, NC 28669.
