Mr. Fred Thomas "Buddy" Bruce, age 74, passed away, Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Chatham Nursing & Rehab Center. Mr. Bruce was born July 16, 1940 in Yadkin County to William Thomas and Eunice Poage Bruce. Mr. Bruce was a member of Grassy Creek United Methodist Church. Survivors include: his wife, Carol Y. Bruce of the home; son, Marty Bruce and wife Kim of Elkin; daughter, Mitzi Sparks and husband Curtis of Ronda; brother, Bill Bruce and wife Carole of Elkin; sisters, Martha Swift and husband Willard of State Road, Tommie Carol Burchette and husband Tommy of N. Wilkesboro and Kathy Bruce of Clemmons; grandchildren, Ali Sparks, Sarah Bruce, Lakyn Sparks and Abby Bruce. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Grassy Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Melinda Penry, Willard Swift, Sarah Bruce and Lakyn Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Grassy Creek United Methodist Church, 145 Klondike Rd. State Road, NC 28676. The family would like to thank the staff of Chatham Nursing & Rehab Center for their care.
