Mrs. Hazel Hawkins Jennings, age 87 of Ronda, passed away Friday, May 22, 2015. She was born June 12, 1927 in Wilkes County to James and Joyce Combs Hawkins. Mrs. Jennings was retired from Hugh Chatham Nursing Center and was a member of Ronda Baptist Tabernacle. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Franklin Jennings. Survivors include: sons, Stephen Franklin Jennings of Jonesville and James Jennings and his wife Patricia of Ronda; daughter, Linda Jennings Woodruff and her husband Benny of Jonesville; brother, Bill Hawkins and his wife Patricia of Ronda; grandchildren, Mark Jennings and his wife Amanda, Melody Combs and her husband Gavin, Roby Jennings and Ashley Jennings; great grandchildren, Eavan Jennings, Liam Jennings, Lachlan Jennings, Aaron Combs, and Benjamin Combs. A graveside service will be conducted Monday, May 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Ronda Cemetery with Dr. Bill Johnson, hospice chaplain, officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Quality Care.
