Sylvia Virginia Norman

Mrs. Sylvia Virginia Norman Norman, age 93 of State Road, passed away Friday, May 22, 2015. She was born December 6, 1921 in Surry County to James and Mary Leota Burnette Norman. Mrs. Norman was a homemaker, a member of Mining Ridge Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star for 52 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Norman; brothers, Gaither Norman, Ray Norman, Luther Norman and Paul Norman; and sisters, Bessie Mae Norman and Thelma Thomas. Survivors include: son, Donald W. Norman and his wife Gail of Deep Gap; daughter, Betty N. Jordan of State Road; sister, Mary Irene Barlow of Thurmond; grandchildren, Neil Norman, Jessica Norman, Stacie Eller and Dane Jordan; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, May 24, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Mining Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Wood and Rev. Josh Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 N. Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital for their care.
