Mrs. Betty Jane Edwards, age 79, passed away, Friday, April 17, 2015 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Edwards was born August 27, 1935 in Cleveland County to William and Lelia Self Fitch. Mrs. Edwards was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and was a retired cafeteria manager for Elkin City Schools and was a retired greeter for Elkin Walmart. Mrs. Edwards cooked for many and gave smiles to all. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edwards; brothers, Maje Fitch and John Fitch; sisters, Billie Dycus, Clara Lee DeLamar and Edith Christian. Survivors include: her son, Ronald Edwards and wife Jackie of Elkin; daughters, Donna Jordan and husband Phillip of Roaring River, Cynthia Edwards of Kernersville and Lori Collins and husband Randy of Roaring River; sister, Andrea McSwain of Shelby; grandchildren, Megan Jordan ( Jason Pruett), Jessica Jordan, Nicole Edwards, Brittany Collins and Ethan Collins; one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Smith, Rev. Vernon Ball, Rev. Brian Cardwell and Mr. John Christian officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family request memorials be made to Pruitt Health Memorial Garden Fund, 560 Johnson Ridge Rd. Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to thank the staff of Pruitt Healthcare and Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their care.
