Mrs. Flora Elizabeth Carter, age 89, passed away, Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Mrs. Carter was born August 23, 1925 in Wilkes County to Luther and Mettie Shore Darnell. Mrs. Carter was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Foley Carter; son, Stuart Carter; two brothers and five sisters. Survivors include: her son, Tim Carter and wife Cheryll of N. Wilkesboro; daughter-in-law, Teresa Carter of Hays; sister, Opal Darnell of Elkin; grandsons, Dillon Carter of Asheville and Matthew Carter of Boone; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church 4G Fund, 593 Pleasant Hill Drive, Elkin, NC 28621.
