Mrs. Mozelle Darnell Cooper, age 93, passed away, Thursday, April 2, 2015. Mrs. Cooper was born April 28, 1921 in Surry County to Charles R. and Mary Couch Darnell. Mrs. Cooper was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for 30 years. Mrs. Cooper was an avid flower gardener, wonderful cook and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Paul O. Cooper; daughter, Eddie Carol Grubbs; brothers, Joseph Darnell, James Darnell and David Darnell; sister, Vetreal C. Tucker; grandson, Christopher Tracy Luffman and step-grandson, Adam Settle. Survivors include: her son, Paul Wayne Cooper and wife Loretta of Elkin; daughter, Gwyn Cooper Beshears and husband James of Clemmons; brother, John F. Darnell and wife Demmie of Elkin; sister, Lorene Gentry of Boonville; grandchildren, Gina Brannock and husband Russell, Paula Merrit and husband Kenny and Paula Zane Cooper; great-grandchildren, Ryan Hutchinson, Matthew Brannock, Sophia Lyons, Elizabeth Lyons and Ian Lyons. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family request memorials be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church 4G fund, 593 Pleasant Hill Drive, Elkin, NC 28621.
