Mrs. Sybil Church Gentry, age 90, passed away, Friday, March 13, 2015 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Gentry was born June 6, 1924 in Keystone, West Virginia to Lewis S. and Faye Parker Church. Mrs. Gentry was a member of White Plains Baptist Church in Roaring River and was retired from Chatham Manufacturing. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Gentry and sisters, Opal Anthony and Nita Darnell. Survivors include: her son, Steve Gentry and wife Ethel of Hays; daughters, Barbara Woodruff and husband John of Boonville and Debbie Clark and husband Dave of Raleigh; brother, Don Church and wife Jerry of Ronda; sister, Doris Anthony of Roaring River; grandchildren, S. James Gentry, Jr., Jason Gentry and wife Angie, Paul Woodruff and wife Beth, Brent Woodruff and wife Celes; step-grandson, Chad Rakes and wife Mara; six great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; family friends and caregivers, Helen Napoli and Trina Brown. Funeral service will be conducted Sunday, March 15, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at White Plains Baptist Church with Rev. William Souther and Dr. Monroe Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family requests memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 North Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621.
