August 27, 1947 — February 10, 2015

Mrs. Patricia Keith Barnes, age 67, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Mrs. Barnes was born August 27, 1947 in Wake County to Zebulon Vance and Elizabeth Regan Barnes. Mrs. Barnes was a member of Elkin Presbyterian Church and was a member of Jonathan Hunt Chapter of DAR and VFW 7794 Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Barnes retired from Equitable Life Insurance Company and was National employee of the year in 1990. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Bert Barnes. Survivors include: her husband, Sam Bishop of the home; daughter, Patti Kane and husband Jack of Andover, Kansas; step-daughters, Melinda Bishop Erwin and husband Brian of Emporia, Kansas and Heather Bishop Moore and husband Jake of San Clemente, CA; sisters, Lela P. Craig of Ocean Springs, MS, Peggy Hamerick of Wendell and Linda Lieppe of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jacob, Sidney, Lindsay, Mike, Drake, Karis, Braydon, Kenan and Max. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 13, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at Elkin Presbyterian Church with Rev. Stuart Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be members of VFW Post 7794. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the donor's choice. The family would like to thank Dr.Tomas Vybiral and Dr. Andras Neumark at Blue Ridge Cardiology & Internal Medicine for their care.
