Brenda Brooks Barker, age 74, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015. Mrs. Barker was born in Surry County on October 14, 1940 to Sebert and Fern Brooks. Mrs. Barker was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Arthur Barker, a great grandson, Malaki Swaim, a sister, Barbara Combs and a brother, Lanny Brooks. Survivors include, a daughter, Belinda Sigmon and husband Jerome of Elkin, three brothers, Tom Brooks and wife Sarah of Sanford, Danny Brooks and wife Betty of State Road, Mickey Brooks and wife Pat of Dobson, a sister-in-law, Lucille Brooks of Dobson, a granddaughter, Desiree Swaim and a great grandson, Trendon Swaim. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Mickey Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Rocky Ford Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 pm at Elkin Funeral Service.
