Mr. Brady Lester Sloop, age 82, passed away Monday, February 02, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Sloop was born November 29, 1932 in Surry County to Lester and Audrey McCoin Sloop. Mr. Sloop was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1979. He then worked at Elkin City Schools. Mr. Sloop was loved by students and everyone who knew him. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and coon hunting. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Elmore Sloop; sister, Irene Ray and brother, Everett Sloop. Survivors include: daughters, Donna Cheek and husband Frankie of Elkin, Kim Winters and husband Bud of Hamptonville and Sandy Chipman and husband Gwyn of Jonesville; brother, Sammy Sloop and wife Jan of Jonesville; brother-in-law, Roger Ray of Elkin; grandchildren, Kelli Torgerson and husband Erik, Dustin Cheek and wife Lyndsey, Nicholas Wilmoth and wife Emily, Jason Wilmoth and wife Tabitha, Joey Ledbetter and wife Megan, Jenna Campbell and husband Matthew and Derek Chipman and India Phillips; fifteen great-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Fugate and Rev. Jonah Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by Yadkin VFW post 10346. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
