Mrs. Jimmie Lamb Irion, age 99, formerly of Elkin passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Mrs. Irion was born May 8, 1915 in Paris, TN to Jim and Ollie Bruce Lamb. Mrs. Irion was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elkin and was active as long as her health permitted and was a member of the Elkin Garden Club. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Phillip Irion and five siblings. Survivors include: her sons, Dr. James Irion and wife Rosemary of Winston Salem and John P. Irion, Jr. and wife Susan of Columbia, SC, Jr.; daughters, Pam Irion of Yadkinville and Phyllis Wayne and husband Austin of Mt. Pleasant, SC; grandchildren, Sarah Irion, Jimmy Irion, Christopher Irion, Madeline Irion, Johnny Irion, Allison Irion and Meredith Irion and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Greg Anderson, hospice Chaplain officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice P.O. Box 1267 Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for their care.
