Mr. James Odell Pruitt, age 86, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Pruitt was born August 21, 1928 in Surry County to Archie D. and Mary Roberta Wagoner Pruitt. Mr. Pruitt was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and Merchant Marines serving during WWII and Korea. Mr. Pruitt was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Colbert Pruitt; brother, Jack Pruitt; daughter-in-law, Norma Pruitt and a special uncle, Calvin Hodge. Survivors include: his son, Dale Pruitt of Jonesville; daughters, Pam Smith and husband Bobby of Elkin and Shannon Pruitt Caudill of State Road; grandchildren, Deanna Holbrook, William Faircloth, Joey Smith, Shanda Ardner, Steven Caudill and Adam Caudill; six great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Chad Whitley officiating. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd. Dobson, NC 27017.
