Rev. James Fred Holbrook went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, December 13, 2014. Mr. Holbrook was born January 16, 1938 in Wilkes County to James Wint and Etta Shumate Holbrook. Rev. Holbrook was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Mulberry where he served as the Pastor for 18 years and worked in construction for many years. He was an avid Tarheel fan and loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Rev. Holbrook was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Roscoe Holbrook and Carleen Holbrook and sisters, Pauline Johnson and Vallie Church. Survivors include: his wife of 53 years Rosa Lee Holbrook of the home; son, Mike Holbrook and companion Amy Nichols of Ronda; daughter, Becky Cook and husband Tony of Jonesville; brothers, Gary Holbrook and wife Joyce of N. Wilkesboro and Maynard Holbrook and wife Hilda of Ronda; sister, Lana Busic and husband David of Sparta; grandchildren, Garrett Holbrook, Molly Holbrook, Cody Cook and Dylan Cook. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Ronda Baptist Tabernacle with Rev. Willie Pardue, Rev. Wayne Adams and Preacher Dylan Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Ronda Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family would like to thank Dr. Howard Nabors, Dr. Thomas Grote and the staff of Wilkes Oncology for their care.
