Mrs. Joy Madge Edwards, age 87, passed away Monday, November 24, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Edwards was born March 17, 1927 in Ipswich, England to George and Florence Webb. Mrs. Edwards met her husband during WWII and came to the states as a war bride. She was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church and was the past officer for the Visually Impared Person Club and was a retired seamstress. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Ronald Edwards and sister, Peg Chandler; great-grandson, Riley Barden. Survivors include: her son, Russell Edwards and wife Petrice of Ronda; daughter, Judy Wagoner and husband Michael of Roaring River; grandchildren, Melea Dawn Barden and husband Donnie of Hickory, Bryan Edwards and wife Christy of Roaring River and Amber Transou of Elkin; great-grandchildren, Emma Barden, Solana Transou and Cassidy Transou. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Home Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Jordan and Rev. Danny Bauguess officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
